Arch bridge is a main bridge type in China. Stone arch bridge has long history and achieved high prestige, such as the Chaw-Zhou Bridge, completed in 605 A.D. with a span of 37.4m, which is still in service today. In China, many reinforced concrete arch bridges have been built since 1949; concrete filled steel tubular arch bridges have been developing rapidly since 1990; and long span steel arch bridges have been more and more popular since 2000. At present, China keeps all the span records of stone, steel, reinforced concrete and concrete filled steel tubular arch bridges, i.e., New Danhe Bridge with a span of 146m for stone arch bridge, Lu Pu Bridge with a main span of 550m for steel arch bridge, Wanxian Yangtze River Bridge with a clear span of 420m for reinforced concrete arch bridge and Wu-shan Yangtze River Bridge with a clear span of 460m for concrete filled steel tubular arch bridge.

The Arch’10 hold in China will help to more extensive academic communication among researchers, experts, practitioners and other people interested in arch bridges all over the world and advances a continuous development in the field.
